Electric Ledge

Just saw the St L gauge go through 10K. Beside the water being quite big, there's a type of water at these levels people may not have seen before.

Below Electric Ledge the water heading towards Boat Beater is very flat and very fast. Crossing to go the left of the island from the river right eddy can be difficult. This flat fast water cannot be crossed with a regular pointed upstream ferry angle. With no waves, or broken suface, you will go down stream fast whatever angle is used. Paddling at 90*, straight across the current will lose the least distance downstream.

If portaging at these levels, It is safer to portage on river left.
