Today is Monday. The Verm is running at 1.5 on the mill gauge today. The water is on its way down after peaking at some level above the 1.9 it was at last Friday (suspicions were for it to have peaked around 2.6 or so. New deposits of trees, logs and wood and flushing of others---some very very large, like at the lip of the falls---is evidence of much higher levels). After rising, the left channel at the rock island above Triple Drop has lots of new wood piled like a web off to the side, but ALSO one log just below the surface all the way across, that will be appearing and creating another hazard as the river level drops (just like earlier in the summer before being cleared). I'm posting this so people know what rate the river is dropping. It is still at a powerful/dynamic level for play, however, it is not as good as it was at 1.8 - 1.9. It was higher and more powerful at that level, but more spins and sustained play too. With the changes in the river this year, getting things dialed in to memory at these varying levels has made the Verm much like getting used to a whole new and unfamiliar river.
Be safe and watch for hazards!!!
